Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a yoga retreat or a boot camp?

Neither. We bridge the gap between a relaxing holiday and a high-performance training camp. Unlike a typical yoga retreat, our focus is on functional strength, HIIT, and mobility. Unlike a boot camp, we don't believe in breaking you down; we believe in building you up. Expect expert-led training sessions that challenge you, followed by premium downtime and active recovery in nature.

The Experience and Training

Do I need to be an elite athlete to attend?

No, but you should enjoy physical effort. Our clients range from weekend warriors to consistent gym-goers. Our certified coaches are experts at scaling movements, ensuring that you can push your individual limits safely, regardless of your starting point. If you are ready to work, you are ready for Elevate.

What does a typical day look like?

We operate on a "Morning Focus: Fitness / Afternoon Focus: Adventure" rhythm. You will start with a training block (strength or conditioning), followed by a chef-prepared breakfast. Mid-days are yours for remote work or relaxation. Afternoons are for guided expeditions—hiking, ocean swims, or exploring the region. Evenings are for community dinners and winding down.

Logistics and Safety

I am traveling solo. Will I be the only one?

Not at all. The majority of our guests travel solo. Elevate Retreats are designed to foster genuine connection. By training and exploring as a team, barriers break down naturally. You will leave with a network of like-minded professionals who value health and success just as much as you do.

I’ve never been to South Africa. How are logistics and safety managed?

We understand that you carry the decision-making load in your daily life, so we remove it completely here. From the moment you arrive at the airport, our team handles every detail. We use private transfers, registered guides, and secure, premium estates. Your only job is to show up; we handle the rest.

Is there WiFi? Can I check in with my office?

Yes. We understand that high-performance professionals often cannot disappear completely. Our locations are equipped with WiFi for when you need to check in. However, we encourage a "high-presence" culture—especially during meals and training—so you can truly disconnect from the noise and reconnect with your surroundings.

Nutrition & Accommodation

Will I be on a restrictive diet?

Absolutely not. We view food as fuel. Our menus are chef-designed to support high-output training and deep recovery. We focus on nutrient-dense, whole foods sourced locally. You will eat well, and you will eat plenty.

What should I pack?

Think "active capability." You will need functional training gear for the mornings and durable outdoor wear (hiking boots/trail shoes) for the afternoons. You will also have the opportunity to swim (sea, river, pool) so bring your gear along. Come prepared for both sweat and variable weather. A detailed packing list is provided upon booking.

What is the "Active Recovery" philosophy?

We don't just sit by a pool to recover; we use the environment. Active recovery includes guided hikes, cold ocean plunges, and mobility sessions designed to flush out fatigue and lower inflammation. It’s about keeping the body moving in a restorative way so you return home feeling stronger, not stiff.

Are flights included?

Flights are not included. However, once you land at the designated airport, we handle the logistics. Your package includes group transfers to and from the venue, so your "care-free" experience begins the moment you arrive at the destination airport.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory. Since our retreats involve physical activity and outdoor expeditions in South Africa, you must have cover that includes medical emergencies and cancellation. We require proof of insurance prior to the retreat start date to ensure your peace of mind.

Is alcohol served on the retreat?

We believe in balance, not prohibition. While alcohol is not included in the retreat package, you are welcome to enjoy a drink at your own expense. Whether it is a glass of wine with dinner or a beer at sunset, the choice is yours. We cultivate a social environment, but we always keep the focus on feeling fresh and ready for the next morning’s training.
